چکیده

Reconstructing provenance in sandstones can be challenging, especially when the hinterland palaeogeology is unknown due to burial, diagenesis or weathering of original outcrops. As sedimentary processes alter distribution minerals depositional environment, use multiple methods reduces uncertainties, because, together, they account for depositionally-controlled textural and mineralogical re-distribution a basin. Here, we have applied petrography, X-ray fluorescence geochemistry sedimentology understand shallow marine Corallian with aim deducing palaeogeology, palaeoenvironment sediment within northern parts Upper Jurassic Weald Basin, onshore UK. Source of Cement in the Great Oolite Reservoir, Storrington Oil Field, Weald Basin, South of England

The source of cement in oilfields is critical to the prediction of the distribution of cements in the reservoirs and also prediction of reservoir quality. The source of mineral forming cements has been determined for the Storrington oolitic carbonate reservoir (Middle Jurassic Great Oolite Formation, Weald Basin, onshore UK) using a combination of petrography, electron microscopy, fluid inclusi...

A Giant Pliosaurid Skull from the Late Jurassic of England

Pliosaurids were a long-lived and cosmopolitan group of marine predators that spanned 110 million years and occupied the upper tiers of marine ecosystems from the Middle Jurassic until the early Late Cretaceous. A well-preserved giant pliosaurid skull from the Late Jurassic Kimmeridge Clay Formation of Dorset, United Kingdom, represents a new species, Pliosaurus kevani. This specimen is describ...

Long-term sediment accumulation in the Middle Jurassic–early Eocene Cordilleran retroarc foreland-basin system

The late Middle Jurassic–early Eocene (;120 m.y.) sediment-accumulation history of the Cordilleran foreland basin in northern Utah exhibits a sigmoidal pattern on a rate vs. time plot, with moderate rates of accumulation during late Middle Jurassic, very low net rates during Late Jurassic–earliest Cretaceous, increasingly rapid rates during Earlymiddle Cretaceous, and low rates during Late Cret...
